Within a year, La Locanda had doubled in size, which says something about the food and/or the Italian real estate market. I've known it as a reliable establishment for good pizza, but recently I was told that its coffee and pastry offerings were, too, at that level. After a few tastings of cappuccino, sweets and pizzas, I must say, now empirically, that La Locanda is the go-to-spot in this neighborhood for a quick breakfast or a pizza stop. The cappuccino is undeniably good, like many other places in the area. Its porcini and truffle pizza is fantastic - for a value that is just as easy to digest (as someone accustomed to Manhattan prices). But note that they only serve pizza for dinner. My most recent lunch visit allowed to try and now attest to the deliciousness of its homemade bread and the clam pasta. All in all, every visit has met and/or exceeded my expectations so far.
